A few of Lean Six Sigma tools that we use: Value Stream Mapping, Spaghetti Diagramming, and 5S (Sort, Shine, Stabilize, Standardize, and Sustain)
Value Stream Mapping
This methodology maps the current flow of specimens and information through your operations and identifies process and performance opportunities within the current state that lead to the development of a future state vision of a lean laboratory system.
Value Stream Mapping always begins with the customer and works backwards.

Spaghetti Diagramming
Proper layout of the laboratory can substantially improve the overall productivity and flow of test systems. Configuration of lean work cells is an excellent way of achieving continuous flow and improving productivity.
We use spaghetti diagrams to help visualize waste of human motion to others. Represented by red lines, this chemistry technologist took many, many steps in 42 minutes.
We helped this laboratory configure lean work cells to achieve continuous flow and improved productivity.

The Lean 5S Tool
Important activities are taught and implemented that create an environment conducive to visual control and lean production.
The first step in most Lean transformations is to 5S your laboratory-Sort, Shine, Stabilize, Standardize and Sustain.
